SOUTHERN HILLS MEDICAL CENTER RECEIVES UNANIMOUS APPROVAL
NASHVILLE, TN (July 1, 2010) In a unanimous, 9-0 vote, Southern Hills Medical Center received approval to expand its hospital at the corner of Wallace Road and Nolensville Pike to 132 beds. The hospital filed a Certificate of Need with the state to add the additional 12 beds as an inpatient rehabilitation unit. The hospital faced opposition from Nashville Rehab, LLC, but ultimately received the blessing of the Agency to move ahead with the project. We are thrilled, said Thomas Ozburn, chief executive officer of Southern Hills Medical Center. Southern Hills continues to see very strong growth in orthopaedics and neurosciences and the opening of an inpatient rehab unit is a natural extension of those services. The hospital is currently undergoing facelifts and construction improvements in many areas, including its front entrance, signage and medical office buildings. Construction of the new inpatient rehabilitation will begin by the end of 2010, with an estimated opening time of early 2011.
